Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the worst incident happened in Bhopal which will be remembered by the whole of India. This accident took place in Bhopal on December 3, 1984.On this day about 40 tons of gas leaked in Union Carbide’s factory.

Main reason of this accident, Poisonous methyl isocyanate gas with water got in a dilapidated tank, due to which a chemical reaction created pressure in the tank and the safety valve opened, causing the poisonous gas to leak. After this, a huge amount of poisonous gas from the tank spread like a cloud in the entire area. This gas cloud contained poisonous gases like nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide.

Due to this gas, symptoms of suffocation, burning sensation in the eyes, flatulence, vomiting started appearing in the people living in the nearby settlements and soon a pile of dead bodies started appearing all around.

More than 15000 people died in this gas accident and about 40000 people were suffering from diseases. No of death people in this accident is not shown clearly. This event also had an effect on the climate and atmosphere here. A museum has been built to remember this event.
